What we handle on a chimney level 2 inspection visit in Long Beach

Long Beach has a lot of early 1900s Craftsman and Spanish houses with brick chimneys that have been patched more than once. We start at the top: cap, crown, then the joints, all checked on the roof, and then we brush the flue by hand from below. Whatever needs repointing gets done by the same crew, not handed to someone else.

360° video camera scan of entire flue interior
Full inspection of accessible portions per NFPA 211
Called for when a home is bought or sold
Required after chimney fire, storm, or seismic event
Digital report with annotated video stills

What chimney level 2 inspection means for Long Beach homes

Port air and sea air together dull and thin a steel cap faster than either one alone. If a cap looks streaked or soft when we are up there, we measure for a stainless one that day and look at the crown underneath while it is off. A typical visit here covers 360° video camera scan of entire flue interior, full inspection of accessible portions per nfpa 211, and called for when a home is bought or sold, because the scope should match what's actually happening at the chimney, not a flat-rate guess.

Where we start on Long Beach appointments

Homes around here run to craftsman bungalows, spanish colonial homes, and older two-story houses near the port, and that shapes how we get to the chimney, what kind of wear shows up, and whether the visit stays routine or turns into a repair before we pack up.

Chimney Level 2 Inspection in Torrance

Torrance wraps around Lomita on two sides, so it gets more of our ladder time than anywhere but home. Tract houses from the 1950s and 1960s often have a brick chimney with white chalky streaks on the face. That is water moving through the brick, and we trace it on the roof to a split crown or an open joint before we mix any mortar.

Chimney Level 2 Inspection in Rancho Palos Verdes

Rancho Palos Verdes is a short drive up the hill from Lomita, and we climb plenty of roofs on the peninsula. Tile roofs and steep lots mean we plan the ladder before we arrive. Around Portuguese Bend and other spots where the ground moves, we look for cracks that cross the brick rather than follow the mortar, and we photograph them from the roof so you see what we see.

Chimney Level 2 Inspection in Rolling Hills Estates

Rolling Hills Estates starts right up the hill from Lomita. Houses here sit on big parcels with long roof runs, and a chimney may not have had anyone on top of it in a long time. We walk the roof, check the cap fasteners and the top of the liner, then sweep from below with rotary brushes so the flue is clean all the way up.

Chimney Level 2 Inspection in Redondo Beach

In Redondo Beach the first thing we usually see from the ladder is rust on the cap or the chase cover. Salt gets into the seams and the metal goes from the joints outward. We check the cap, damper and crown on the roof, then sweep from the firebox, so one pair of eyes covers the whole flue.
