In Redondo Beach the first thing we usually see from the ladder is rust on the cap or the chase cover. Salt gets into the seams and the metal goes from the joints outward. We check the cap, damper and crown on the roof, then sweep from the firebox, so one pair of eyes covers the whole flue.
Neighborhood coverage
We work this city even where we haven't logged every block yet. Check the neighborhoods listed below, or call and we'll confirm the run to your address.
A standard visit here covers complete creosote and soot removal, smoke chamber deep cleaning, and hepa-filtered vacuum running while we brush. The written report lays out current condition, any code items, and recommended next steps, so you have documentation on file whether the visit stays routine or turns up a repair.
Fog brings moisture in without rain, and a damp, musty firebox in summer is a common sign it is getting past the cap or through open mortar. We find where it gets in and seal it while we are already on the roof. Most Redondo Beach homeowners book chimney sweep ahead of the season's first fire or right after the heavy spring rains pass. We keep slots open in both windows so scheduling doesn't turn into a scramble.
We cover Redondo Beach and the surrounding areas of Hermosa Beach, Torrance, and Palos Verdes Estates. ZIP codes within our regular dispatch zone: 90277 and 90278. If your home sits right on the boundary, give us a call and we'll confirm.

the big city on Lomita's north and west sides
Torrance wraps around Lomita on two sides, so it gets more of our ladder time than anywhere but home. Tract houses from the 1950s and 1960s often have a brick chimney with white chalky streaks on the face. That is water moving through the brick, and we trace it on the roof to a split crown or an open joint before we mix any mortar.

Rancho Palos Verdes is a short drive up the hill from Lomita, and we climb plenty of roofs on the peninsula. Tile roofs and steep lots mean we plan the ladder before we arrive. Around Portuguese Bend and other spots where the ground moves, we look for cracks that cross the brick rather than follow the mortar, and we photograph them from the roof so you see what we see.

Rolling Hills Estates starts right up the hill from Lomita. Houses here sit on big parcels with long roof runs, and a chimney may not have had anyone on top of it in a long time. We walk the roof, check the cap fasteners and the top of the liner, then sweep from below with rotary brushes so the flue is clean all the way up.

Long Beach has a lot of early 1900s Craftsman and Spanish houses with brick chimneys that have been patched more than once. We start at the top: cap, crown, then the joints, all checked on the roof, and then we brush the flue by hand from below. Whatever needs repointing gets done by the same crew, not handed to someone else.
